John DeGrazia Jr., 93, WWII Air Force Veteran

The lifelong Pleasantville resident was married at Holy Innocents in 1947, graduated from Pace University and was a longtime member of PVAC.

John DeGrazia, Jr. age 93, died peacefully on Sept 2nd at his home in Pleasantville, NY. He was born the youngest of 9 children to Antoinette Elephante and John DeGrazia, Sr. in Pleasantville, NY, on Oct 30th, 1919.

A graduate of Pace University in New York, he served in the US Army Air Force during WW II as a bombardier instructor. He married Catherine Barrett in May 1947 in Holy Innocents Church, worked in finance in the automotive industry and retired in 1987. A lifelong resident of Pleasantville, he served as Commander of American Legion Post 77, President of the Holy Name Society, Treasurer and longtime member of the Pleasantville Ambulance Corp. 

He is predeceased by his wife of 56 years and all of his siblings. He is survived by his children: John Barrett DeGrazia of Arlington, VA, Martha C. DeGrazia of Slingerlands, NY, James & Janice DeGrazia of Cranberry Township, PA, Michael DeGrazia of White Plains, NY and Martin DeGrazia of Pleasantville.

Wake to be held at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville on Thursday Sept 5th 4 - 8 PM. Funeral Mass at Holy Innocents on Friday Sept 6th at 10 AM.
