Robert Camilli Sr., General Contractor

Camilli, born in Pleasantville, attended PHS and served in the U.S. Army.

Robert P. Camilli Sr. passed away Saturday October 12, 2013 at his home.  He was 88 years old.

Born in Pleasantville, New York, Mr. Camilli graduated from Pleasantville High School and was then drafted into the Army.  He served with the 563rd. Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion (Mobile) attached to the First Army and the 82nd. Airborne Division.  His outfit landed on Omaha Beach in October of 1944.  His most vivid memory was fighting during the Battle of the Bulge in December of 1944.  After the war Mr. Camilli attended the Mondel Institute of Technology and was partnered with his father, Peter, and brother, Matthew in their General Contracting firm, Peter Camilli and Sons, Inc.  He acted as Field Supervisor until 1973 when, upon the death of his brother, changed roles and moved into the office where he ran the firm until his retirement in 1985.

During his years as Field Super he completed numerous large projects throughout Westchester, Putnam, Orange, and Rockland Counties.  The Library and Sports Building at Marymount College in Tarrytown, the Dining Hall, Arts and Science Buildings along with several Dormitories at the then Briarcliff College, the Thruway Rest Area at Sloatsburg, NY, Mary Immaculate School, now St. Augustine’s in Ossining, the Douglas Graflin School in Chappaqua and the Edenwald Relocation Project for JCCA of Greater New York to name a few. 

He was married to his wife Patricia (nee. Ingham) for 62 years, Mrs. Camilli passed away on June 6, 2011.  His is survived by two sons, Frederick and Robert Jr., one daughter, Regina Tancredi, two sisters Carmela Consorte and Alice Fricchione, 9 grandchildren and one great grandson.

A wake will be held at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Theresa’s Church in Briarcliff Manor on Wednesday at 10 AM. Entombment following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.  In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to Phelps Hospice, 701 North Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10595 would be appreciated.
