Open Budget Discussion?

So while everyone speaks to who is wrong and who is right on the budget issues, lets take a look at the impact on our children in the school. On Friday one high school teacher spoke to the class about how horrible the school district will become. She spent 10 minutes explaining that she was going to be let go because the parents want to see the district fail and that the district was going to turn into the Bronx. Other teachers around the high school pulled 18 year olds telling them to register to vote so they could save clubs and athletics. Some teachers in the middle school told the children that with the budget not passing, there went their chances of getting into a good college. At Todd, 4 grade students were told that they will loose all music programs. While I am sure that all of our educators welcome open discussion and try to keep the students aware of issues and impacts, I am sure that we all agree that these scare tactics have no place in our district classrooms. Mr. Kashen better be prepared to buckle down on teachers who take too many liberties with this type of dialogue. These are our children and we as parents vote in what we think is their best interest. The teachers should stick to curriculum.
