Of the many worthy choices for hiking and walking in the area, Rockefeller State Preserve was chosen as the favorite in three Patches—, and .
In Pleasantville, Rockefeller State Preserve received 70 percent of the votes, in Tarrytown 29 percent and in Ossining-Croton-on-Hudson, 56 percent.
The sprawling 1,600 acres that make up the preserve are made up of woodlands, wetlands, meadows, roads and a 24-acre lake. The park offers year-round access to walkers, hikers, joggers, horseback riders, bird watchers and photographers.
During bass and trout season, those with New York state licenses can access the waters for fishing in Swan Lake and the Pocantico River, respectively.
