- The Freedom Bridge Has Returned!!!
I was driving on Rte 117 (Phelps Way) this morning, when I saw it was back. I quickly pulled over to the side of the road shoulder (no cars behind me) and snapped this photo.
The Freedom Bridge has been famous in our neck of the woods for years and was even featured (a brief cameo) in the the 2007 musical romantic comedy "Across the Universe".
The graffiti FREEDOM remained on the bridge up until this past year when the bridge was restored & the graffiti cleaned and painted over. To many, it was greatly missed.
When seeing it back up this morning, I smiled. I don't usually condone bridge graffiti but this one has a special place in the hearts of many. The artist has never been revealed. Yet the single word "FREEDOM" speaks boldly to everyone who passes under the bridge.
I vote we officially name this bridge "The Freedom Bridge".
