For a Delicious St. Patrick's Day Shop the Market!

DONNING THE GREEN

St. Patrick's Day provides a great opportunity to gather with family and share a hearty meal. Come by the Market tomorrow for items that compliment a traditional corned beef dinner such as cabbage, potatoes, carrots and other root vegetables. Or consider making the recipe for Irish stew shown below from Cowberry Crossing Farm. Irish colors are present at Trotta Foods this week in bright green spinach ravioli, cavatelli and tortellini. Red Barn Bakery has prepared Irish Soda Bread and shamrock cookies. Dan Leader and Sharon Burns-Leader of Bread Alone will send hot cross buns and their Irish Soda Bread (Sharon's mother's recipe). If Irish soda bread and caraway seeds aren't your thing, then cross the aisle to Newgate Farm for terrific scones (just the thing to go with your Irish tea). Finally, its corned beef on RYE, right? In addition to a delicious Irish Soda Bread of their own, All You Knead Artisan Bakers has gorgeous rye bread, baked just before the Market opens. For corned beef sandwiches later this week, or just to eat with a block of Irish butter, this is a great bread to head home with!

Save Some Green!
The holiday has inspired Pickle Licious to offer $1.00 off quart containers of any of their pickles. And Stefan's Pure Blends is offering $1.00 off each package of their handmade pierogi when purchasing two or more packages.

Highlighted Recipe:
Slow Cooker Irish Stew (beef or lamb)

Our vendor Cowberry Crossing Farm has provided a recipe for a Slow Cooker Irish Stew that is easy to prepare in the crock pot. Many of the ingredients listed are available at the Market. Both Cowberry Crossing Farm and Kiernan Farm have stew meats. Olive oil is available from Pure Mountain Olive Oil; salt, pepper and bay leaves from Spice Revolution; and potatoes, turnips, carrots, onions and parsley are available though our farms (Madura Farms, Newgate Farms, Little Seed Gardens, and Mead Orchards).

Best Return To Health For Permanand Raghoo
Now on the mend, Permanand Raghoo of Raghoo Farms, suffered a set back in his health this winter and regrets that he will be departing from the Market. He and his wife Indira will be joining family in Florida where they can look forward to plenty of vitamin C and a lack of wintery workdays. If you would like to wish them well stop by our Manager's Table to collect an email you can use for that purpose.

Speaking of Health: its American Chocolate Week!
That's right - the third week of March is "American Chocolate Week." Stop by Spice Revolution tomorrow and ask about the health benefits of eating her delicious dark chocolate.
