Thaw Out & See Friends At The Market Tomorrow

DUTCH DESSERTS:
pure & simply delicious

Baked FRESH while we sleep, and leaving the kitchen soon after, Dutch Dessert's tarts don't need preservatives. And everyone knows once brought home, they are not around very long.

Dutch Desserts does know the value of preserving Hudson Valley summer fruits, freezing them in season, so we can enjoy fresh fruit tarts all winter long. And they like to point out, if you have the discipline to plan ahead, their fruit tarts freeze well for future use.

In our house the discussion is always whether a tart will be eaten all in one sitting. On the rare occasion when some tart remains for the next day, we know who it was that ate the last piece for breakfast before everybody else got up.

Thaw Out At The Market

Winter's about to give us March, just when we are thinking of May. Get out the Market and enjoy this short phase of mild temps. Use those muscles developed shoveling all winter to haul home some fantastic cheese and breads for the week. Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse visits tomorrow with rustic breads and cheeses, joining Bread Alone and All You Knead, each with their own great artisanal breads to offer. Also in with cheeses are The Amazing Real Live Food Company (Camembert!) and The Butterfield Farm Company (delicious goats milk cheese, and lotions too if winter got to your hands). For a complete summary of vendors in attendance tomorrow look at our interactive Map of the Market by clicking here.

Conant Valley Jams
Go "continental" for Sunday's breakfast: freshly poached eggs from Raghoo Farms, toast made from Market bread, and a fruity jam (or marmalade) of your choice from Conant.

Handspun Yarns
Maupston Design Studio will visit Pleasantville Farmers Market tomorrow with skeins of beautiful yarns. Fiber artist Anna Upston will bring handspun yarns of her own design, and some millspun yarns from local NYS farms. You can review yarns by Maupston Designs Studio by clicking here, or stop by to speak with Anna as she spins yarn at the wheel tomorrow.

Explore and Find More
The Market has special treasures revealed each week. Visiting Krazy for Kazu's produces a wonderfully useful and traditional Dashi broth, from which many recipes can proceed (Beef Udon Noodle Soup being just one). Hudson Valley Duck Farm brings to market rendered duck fat. With a higher smoke point and a rich complex flavor, duck fat is essential in many cuisines. Of course, both of these vendors are happy to review recipes and cooking tips with you. Isn't it rewarding to shop for a new recipe you never expected to make, and then experience that meal in your home later Saturday?
