Pleasantville High School Honors Local Vets

Local veterans were the guests of honor at a breakfast held the morning after Veterans Day at Pleasantville High School. Principal Daniel McCann welcomed the veterans and introduced choral teacher Kathleen Donovan-Warren and the members of Camerata, who sang The Star Spangled Banner. Throughout the event, students in the TV Production class recorded interviews of the veterans by the school’s Video Announcement anchors and plan to create a documentary from them.

Did you know that the black and gold banner in the Pleasantville High School auditorium represents the number of PHS students who gave their lives in service to their country? The number was 30 until last spring, when the school learned that Jonathan Flores, Class of 1992, died while on active duty in the Middle East in 2000. Over the summer, Penny Fonde, wife of PHS AP Gregg Fonde and a graduate of FIT, reworked the banner to change the number to 31.
