P'ville Superintendent Advocates for Student Privacy on NPR

Recently, Pleasantville Superintendent of Schools Mary Fox-Alter was a guest on NPR’s Here and Now program to discuss “Sharing Student Data in the Cloud: Should We Be Worried?” Many states have raised concerns over whether that data should be stored online and managed by third parties like inBloom. Mrs. Fox-Alter, who spoke in support of students’ data privacy, was countered by Aimee Rogstad Guidera, executive director of the Data Quality Campaign. Written excerpts of their discussion as well as the radio broadcast can be found at http://hereandnow.wbur.org/2014/02/24/student-data-privacy

InBloom declined to be interviewed for this show. Both inBloom and the Data Quality Campaign are funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
