Briarcliff Resident Charged in Fairfield U Melee

Dangerous weapons were used and a student was transported to the hospital after a large fight broke out inside a dorm this weekend, police said.

A Briarcliff Manor resident was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct after a fight broke out at a Fairfield University dormitory early Sunday morning, according to police.

Twenty-year-old and 22-year-old of Garden City, NY, residents were both charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct on September 22 at approximately 2:26 a.m. The 22-year-old was also charged with second degree criminal mischief and possession of a dangerous weapon.

A third student, a 20-year-old Briarcliff Manor resident, was charged with disorderly conduct.

According to police, a large verbal argument allegedly initiated the two Garden City men escalated to a physical alteration in Dolan Hall. One victim was transported to a local hospital and walls and doors were damaged as a result of the fight.

The two Garden City residents were allegedly yelling names at other students and threatening people living in the dorm. The 22-year-old was in possession of a baton during the fight, according to police.

He was released on $2,500 bond, the 20-year-old Garden City resident was released on $500 bond and the Briarcliff Manor resident was released on $250 bond. All three individuals are schedule to appear in court on Oct. 3.
