Burning Wire Temporarily Closes Wheeler Avenue

Pleasantville Police said the downtown street was closed to traffic after a wire came down this morning.

A live, burning wire that came down on Wheeler Avenue this morning temporarily closed the roadway, police said.

The Pleasantville Police Department was notified of the incident at 11:16 a.m. and called the Fire Department and Con Edison to the scene.

Police said the one-way street was closed temporarily to traffic by the Department of Public Works as Con Edison arrived to shut off power related to the burning wire.

Con Edison remains at the scene, near Sundance Deli, and the street has since reopened, police said.
