Update: Christmas Eve Suicide at Palisades Center

Surveillance video shows Orangeburg woman intentionally fell to her death.

Dec. 26 update:

Clarkstown Police have identified the 36-year-old woman who died in an apparent Christmas Eve suicide as Bindu Mathew from Orangeburg. 

According to police, video surveillance of the incident at the Palisades Center shows Mathew sat on top of the fourth floor railing and intentionally pushed herself over.

Police were called to the Palisades Center at about 10 p.m. on Monday, and recovered her body on the parking garage level.

Clarkstown Police report a 36-year-old Orangeburg woman either jumped or fell to her death at the Palisades Center in Nyack on Christmas Eve. Police report the unidentified woman’s body was on the basement level of the mall. They were called to the shopping center at about 10 p.m. on Monday. 

Police report the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the incident. The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released.
