NYSP Enforce 'Traffic Safety' Over Thankgiving Weekend

Across the state, New York State Police made 25 DWI arrests and 23 criminal arrests.

The following is from New York State Police:

The New York State Police conducted a traffic safety initiative over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend to heighten the public’s awareness of the dangers of impaired driving, speeding and failure to use safety restraints.
 
From November 21 to November 25, 2012, the New York State Police conducted 16 DWI checkpoints across the state and conducted 7 saturation patrols on state roadways.
 
At the checkpoints or while out on patrol, State Police made 25 DWI arrests, 23 criminal arrests and wrote 414 vehicle and traffic tickets.
 
In addition to the checkpoints and patrols, 11 underage drinking initiative details checked 36 bars and 130 retail establishments across the state.
 
State Police made 21 arrests for providing alcohol to minors and 9 arrests for penal law violations.
 
Over the Thanksgiving weekend, State Police responded to no fatal motor vehicle accidents.
