The Village of Pleasantville appointed Thomas Woods as a police officer last night.
According to Village Adminitrator Patti Dwyer, "We had a vacancy. Somebody left and went to Buchanan, it's a budgeted position."
Dwyer said the department hopes to use P.O. Woods in undercover work, as he is not yet known to the community.
"We're bringing him in [during a special meeting], because we didn't want his face to be used," she explained. "The chief thought he would be good to use in undercover operations."
Woods, who comes to the village from The New York City Police Department, officially became a police officer in Pleasantville at midnight today.
Next week, there will be another shift in the department, according to Dwyer, when Police Officer Juan Garcia will be promoted to the position of sergeant.
