Evening update: While one lane of Pleasantville Road was open after 2 p.m. this afternoon, Con Edison and the Fire Department's efforts to moderate gas in several Pleasantville Road homes continued into the evening.
All residents who were previously evacuated have since returned to their homes.

Update, 1:45 p.m.: are now reporting Route 9A between Chappaqua Road and North State Road has been reopened for southbound traffic.
Pleasantville Road will reportedly be reopened by 2 p.m. this afternoon.

UPDATE:
Eight to nine houses on Pleasantville Road are being evacuated due to a high-pressure gas main break, said Doug Cacciola of the .
The homes are north of , which is not affected.
The gas-main break is also just north of the church and south of the Chappaqua Road intersection with Route 9A.
Fire officials said the break occurred while Con Edison workers were addressing a smaller break in the area.
As of noon, officials said Con Edison had clipped the main and were attempting to isolate the affected gas main to shut it down.
In the meantime, traffic continues to be detoured around the incident.
