A King Street homeowner called police this morning after a man allegedly broke in through unlocked door, Mount Pleasant Police Sgt. Michael Pierce said.
The department received a call from a resident of 940 King St. at 11:45 a.m. reporting the break-in, Pierce said. The house is in northern Mount Pleasant, near the border with New Castle.
"It was an interrupted burglary," he stated.
The homeowner reported that the man, who was wearing a red hoodie, fled the scene in a black Altima. It is unknown whether there was more than one suspect at the scene.
"We are conducting a canvass and other departments are being made aware," he said.
