A Williams Street resident who tried to jaywalk across Route 9 at 8:20 p.m. March 9 is in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center, Ossining Police said.
The injuries, which included a broken leg and facial lacerations, are not life-threatening, said Lt. William Sullivan.
No charges were filed against the driver, an 83-year-old man from Pearl River who was headed southbound and who stopped after the accident.
The victim was trying to cross Route 9 from Denny to Aqueduct street in the area of the village known as the Hollow.
Route 9 is a four-lane highway there.
"People should cross in crosswalks—and, late at night, in well-lit areas," Sullivan said.
