Coyotes have been seen in the Ossining area and are becoming part of the local wildlife, according to a memo from the Town of Ossining Monday.

Please take the following precautions recommended by the USDA and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
- If pets are left outside, make sure they are supervised.
- Do not leave small children unattended and playing in the yard.
- Cover garbage and do not leave food outside.
If a coyote approaches you, try to appear as aggressive as you can and attempt to deter its presence. Do not run from the animal; maintain eye contact and move to an area of activity.
If you see a coyote, contact your local police.
