A "healthy"-looking fox was seen walking through a backyard yesterday, a resident reported.
"We saw this fox in our neighbor's backyard on River Road in Briarcliff Manor," Ken Kail wrote in an email to Patch.
Lt. Donald Gorey of the Briarcliff Manor Police Department said there haven't been any other reports of foxes or other wild animals being seen in the village this week.
"Stay away from them," he advised if residents happen to come across anything from a fox to a coyote locally. "Most of them are just out there trying to get by."
If a larger animal like a fox comes onto your property, Gorey said to make sure your pets and children stay away.
While it's likely the animals are just passing through, Gorey added you should keep an eye out on your property for a few days after any sightings.
"Make sure they are not making a home in your yard," he said. And if they do, "you have to call animal control services."
