NYSP: Teen Filmed People in Health Club Locker Room

New York State Police say the Croton teenager "surreptitiously" filmed patrons "in various states of undress."

A 19-year-old Croton resident faces felony charges for allegedly filming people using the locker room/shower area of a local health club.

State Police at Cortlandt issued a press release today in which they name the young defendant but not the club where he reportedly “surreptitiously” filmed patrons “in various states of undress.” Police did say however that the health club cooperated with the investigation.

After four months of investigation in collaboration with Croton-on-Hudson Police, the county District Attorney’s office, and the state Computer Crimes Unit, state police arrested Daniel "Max" Winsten on Nov. 8.

Police said they had seized and analyzed “a number of” computer items from Winsten’s residence before they charged him with:

  • Unlawful Surveillance in the Second Degree, a Class "E" Felony,
  • and Possessing an Obscene Performance by a Child, also a Class "E" Felony.

Winsten was arraigned and released with “certain conditions” from the Town of Cortlandt Court.
