Three teenagers took items from the Briarcliff Manor A&P grocery store outdoor display and chucked them in the Chilmark Shopping Center parking lot over the weekend, according to police.
Police reported that while out on patrol at approximately 1:43 a.m. on Sunday, officers spotted a group of youths hanging out in the Chilmark parking lot above the A&P.
As police arrived at the scene, the group dispersed. Police reported observing two teenagers in the adjacent wooded area. They were subsequently arrested after police reported finding items seemingly taken from the grocery store—including pumpkins, mums and bottled water—thrown and broken around the lot.
The two teens were charged with Petit Larceny and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree.
Later that day, a third youth turned himself into police and was arrested on the same charges.
All three 17-year-old male teenagers—one from Briarcliff Manor and two from Peekskill—were released on $100 bail and are due in village court on October 10.
Police estimated approximately $240 in property was stolen and damaged at the scene.
