The following is a press release from the People’s Caucus of Briarcliff Manor:

The People’s Caucus of Briarcliff Manor is a non-partisan civic organization which encourages candidates to seek local elected office. Anyone in the Village of Briarcliff Manor who is eligible to vote in a general election is automatically a member of the Caucus, irrespective of any other political party affiliation. Any member of the Caucus may seek nomination for election to the Caucus’ Executive Committee. The elected officer positions are: Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary for a term of one year. Such elected officers plus an additional Member at Large appointed by the Chair shall constitute the Executive Committee.

Briarcliff’s Village elections will be held March 18, 2014. The positions of two Trustees are up for election for terms of two (2) years. Any member of the Caucus may seek nomination as the Caucus’ candidate in the March election for these positions. Candidates receiving the Caucus’ endorsement will appear on the Caucus line on the March 18 election ballot.

The key dates are:

Wednesday, December 18, 2013 (rescheduled from December 11, 2013) - The Caucus’ Executive Committee will hold an information meeting in the Village Youth Center, behind the Municipal Building at 8 PM for any persons considering running for these positions.  Interested persons should please advise a member of the Executive Committee by Monday, December 16.

Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - The Caucus’ Annual Nominating Meeting will be held in the Briarcliff Middle School Theater at 8 PM.  At this meeting the Caucus members will nominate candidates for two Village Trustees and for the Caucus’ Executive Committee.

Wednesday, January 15, 2014 - At this meeting, those persons nominated for local elected official office will participate in a debate/meet the candidates meeting, where the public will have the opportunity to ask them questions.  This meeting will be held in the Middle School Theater at 8 PM.

Wednesday, January 22, 2014 - Should any local elected position be contested, a voting meeting will follow on this date in the Village Youth Center.  Voting hours are 3 PM – 9 PM or by proxy.

A few questions for the residents and tax-payers of Briarcliff: * Do YOU feel connected or involved in this process in any way? * Are YOU aware of this process and how it works? * Have YOU EVER voted in a Village election (for Mayor and Village Trustees, not School Board or School Budget)?
