The following information does not indicate a conviction.

An Ossining man appeared in today, in handcuffs, after allegedly breaking into a resident's home and attacking her on Sunday.

At 12:13 a.m., the responding officer requested additional police assistance at the scene to aid with an emotionally disturbed person. Mount Pleasant Police, New Castle Police, a medic and Pleasantville Volunteer Ambulance Corps were called to the scene.

Records show that Jones was arrested and brought to police headquarters at 12:28 a.m. for processing. At 12:59 a.m., he was transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.

The female resident and victim also reported experiencing pain and dizziness from the assault and was hospitalized.

Jones was immediately charged with Aggravated Criminal Contempt, a Class D Felony.

In related matters, he was charged on June 1 of this year with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree and Criminal Trespassing in the Second Degree. He was charged with Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree on June 11.

In court tonight, Village Justice John Curley denied Jones' attorney's request to set bail in the matter.

Assistant District Attorney Owen Levin stated, "The facts of this case are particularly egregious."

He said the victim, who appeared in court, was "visibly injured" and also pointed out that a police officer was injured during the stuggle. He was also hospitalized and has not yet returned to work. Police said his injuries are minor.

The woman had visible bruises on her face during her court appearance today and appeared upset when Jones was brought out.

This evening, Jones was additionally charged with two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, one count of Strangulation in the Second Degree and one count of Burglary in the Second Degree—all felonies.

According to Levin, Jones used a weapon when he broke in and attacked the resident. He added that this is the defendant's second time breaking the court's order of protection.

As the case's proceedings were coming to a close this evening, the victim spoke with the court clerk who asked for the judge's attention. Curley announced the victim claimed Jones also called her twice from jail today—which violates the court's order that he not contact or see the victim. The prosecution has not confirmed this information.

"If you want to get out of jail anytime soon, you will listen to what I say," he warned sternly.

The case was adjourned until September 4 for all purposes.
