Mt. Pleasant Accidentally Robo-Calls New Castle

The Town of Mount Pleasant sent out robo calls to New Castle residents, administrator says.

Are you a New Castle resident who received a robo call over the weekend from Mount Pleasant? If so, it was done in error, New Castle Town Administrator Penny Paderewski stated.

While New Castle did not send out robo calls during this weekend's snow storm—text messages and emails were used instead—some in town got calls from Mount Pleasant Supervisor Joan Maybury, Paderewski said.

Both towns have been using new robo call systems, Paderewski said. While New Castle "scrubbed" its data when it used its CodeRED system, it appears that Mount Pleasant had more people in its range than needed, Paderewski stated.

Paderewski also stated that she spoke with Maybury's office about it and that they apologized.

Maybury's office confirmed the mix up and stated that the system is being fixed.

Addressing the mistake, Paderewski looked at it optimistically. She wrote, "As one New Castle resident I spoke to told me, 'I would rather get more information than less.' I personally think that is a good way to look at it."

Yes. I live in Mount Kisco and got two or three calls, but I agree. More info is better than less.
