New Pleasantville Rec Center to Open Today

The former Marble Avenue-based PVAC building is now the Recreation Department headquarters.

The Pleasantville Recreation Department finally has a new home.

Today, the offices will move from Village Hall to 48 Marble Ave.—the former Volunteer Ambulance Corps building—which has been renovated to accommodate office space and recreation activity space for village residents.

Just a few weeks ago, Village Administrator Patricia Dwyer said renovations were going well at the building.

"It looks pretty promising," she told Patch. There are just little things happening—like the security system is going in now."

Finishing touches such as testing that system, installing the phones and adding a final coat of paint, have since been completed.

Meanwhile, Dwyer also said the old, has at least one very interested buyer.

"We are in serious discussions with a prospective buyer," she revealed. "It would be a rehabilitation project. We are very excited about it."

The interested buyer, Dwyer said, will likely want to "preserve the character" of the building.

Coming up, community members can register for winter recreation programs on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

There will be an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony for locals to check out the newly-renovated Marble Avenue building on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 12 p.m.

"It's going to be a nice facility," Dwyer said.
