Several years after the century-old Recreation Center on Bedford Road closed its doors, Pleasantville is revamping its efforts to get the structure back on the village tax rolls.
Just over one month ago, a "For Sale" sign appeared in front of the building.
"Since that sign showed up at 359 Bedford Rd., we have received about dozen calls," said Village Administrator Patricia Dwyer. "We also had a couple of walk-throughs."
The building, vacant since 2007, is zoned for a two-family residence, according to the sign.
Despite some interest in the building, Dwyer said, "Everyone is interested to know what the bottom line is before they go forward."
At the village board's October 8 meting, Mayor Peter Scherer noted that type of discussion would take place in an executive session.
A proposal a couple of years back involved the United Methodist Church moving into the building and Village Hall relocating to the church. At the time, the mayor said he was interested to see if the move could help the village achieve cost savings, while placing the current village hall building back on the tax rolls. The proposal ultimately fell through.
