The Village of Pleasantville sayd Hurricane Sandy will likely hit the area late Monday and they officials are offering tips to locals in case of emergency.
"Pleasantville Emergency Preparedness Officials encourage residents to follow three basic measures in the event of a severe storm," the village wrote in a press release today.
The measures include:
- Pack a Go-Bag, a collection of items you may need in the event of an evacuation. A Go-Bag should be packed in a sturdy, easy-to-use container such as a backpack or suitcase on wheels. Items to be considered include, but are not limited to, copies of important documents in a waterproof and portable container, bottled water and non-perishable food, flashlight and battery operated AM/FM radio.
- Develop a Disaster Plan, which will ensure your family members know what to do, how to find each other and how to communicate in an emergency.
- Prepare an Emergency Supply Kit; keep enough supplies in your home to survive on your own, for at least THREE (3) days. If possible, keep these materials in an easily accessible, separate container or special cupboard.
In addition, the village stated, "In anticipation of Hurricane Sandy, we are requesting all residents NOT put leaves or debris on or near the curb line."
