Town of Mount Pleasant Sandy Update

Updates about electrical system and debris removal for the Town of Mount Pleasant.

The following is from Town of Mount Pleasant Supervisor Joan Maybury:

As we enter the holiday season, there is some post Sandy information.

Meetings were held last week with Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino, Con Edison and municipal leaders to discuss response efforts to Sandy. Con Edison's communication with residents and municipalities was roundly criticized and action steps were demanded.

At these meetings, towns and villages were informed that many out of state crews will be performing work in Westchester to further repair the electrical system to pre-Sandy conditions. Areas such as Nannyhagen Road in the Town of Mt. Pleasant will require significant attention. Meetings with the Department of Environmental Protection personnel are scheduled this week to plan for debris removal along Nannyhagen Road, as well.

Town personnel are taking note of streets where low hanging wires, abandoned transformers or other utility pole concerns need attention. Our Highway crews continue to collect debris from the storm as well as leaves.

Thank you for your patience. The Hurricane Sandy disaster recovery center in White Plains has new hours of operation. Located at the County center, the facility will be staffed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.

Take care,
Joan Maybury
Supervisor
