Westchester County Executive Candidates Speak During Environmental Forum

Noam Bramsom, who's challenging Astorino for his seat in Novembers general election, gave their views on local environmental issues at Pace University Monday.

The candidates in this year's race for the Westchester County Executive seat gave their views on a number of local environmental issues Monday night during a sustainability forum at Pace Law School in White Plains.

The event, hosted by the New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund and Pace, gave people the chance to hear the insights of the Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino, a Republican, and New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramsom, the Democratic challenger for the county executive seat.

The candidates didn't have the opportunity to debate, but they were asked the same set of questions by a panel composed of Andy Bicking, director of public policy for Scenic Hudson; Karl Coplan, professor at Pace Law School; Adrienne Esposito, executive director of the Citizens Campaign for the Environment; and Paul Gallay, president of Riverkeeper.

Astorino and Bramsom also answered questions from the audience.

Attached to this post are videos of the candidates giving their responses to questioned posed by the panelists.

The first official debate for the two candidates is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 2 inside the Reckson Metro Center Auditorium. The auditorium is located at 360 Hamilton Ave. in White Plains.
