Rabbi Mark’s Blog: The High Holidays Come Early – Join Us!

The High Holidays come “early” this year.

Rosh Hashanna begins Wednesday night, September 4. We’d love you to join us!

This year I’ll be speaking at each of our services about the challenge of meaningful prayer. Some folks say the greatest challenge to meaningful prayer in a Jewish context is all the Hebrew. But our services are conducted in English as well, and yet challenges remain! So this year we’ll be looking together at new ways of looking at old prayers, as well as some new prayers we might want to pray in a surprisingly “old” way.

And of course we’ll be ringing in the New Year with everything you’ve come to expect at PCS/Joyful Judaism: The Children’s Service – The PCS House Band – Cantor Abbe and The PCS Choir – Delicious Kiddush Luncheon – Guest Musicians – Meditation with Malcolm Netburn, Dr. Mark Bertin, & Dr. Judith Schmidt – “Prayer Masters” Ed Sperling & Dr. Marc Borenstein – Discussion with Dr. Sarah Tauber - and much more.

Please note: In order to accommodate the larger holiday crowd, our services are held not at our synagogue but at the nearby Rosenthal JCC. Still, seating is limited, and tickets not already spoken for by members are available on a first come first served basis. Please contact the synagogue office at (914) 769-2672 or  info@shalomPCS.com for information.

A good and sweet New Year to all!
