Last Chance: Apply for 'Affordable' Briarcliff Condos
Comstock Heights, the 14-unit fair and affordable housing development on North State Road, is accepting applications through the end of the month.
Individuals and families with income in the 80 percent or below area median income (AMI) range for Westchester County are eligible to apply for the 14 two-floor, two-bedroom condominium units on North State Road in Briarcliff Manor.
Comstock Heights, at 445 North State Rd., also includes some commercial space behind the street-facing residential units.
According to literature on the county's website, "The site is situated on the County Bee-Line bus route which provides quick access to nearby shopping, day care, restaurants, medical offices, etc."
Applications for the residential units are due by July 31. Future residents will likely move in during the fall of 2013.
The website also provides a full description of the new units: "The 14 newly constructed, affirmatively marketed fair and affordable townhouse style condominiums are approximately 1140 square feet in size and have two bedrooms and two and a half baths. Each has a separate entrance and attic storage. The first floor contains an entry foyer, kitchen (with Energy Star appliances), dining room, living room, and a 1/2-bath. The second floor includes two bedrooms (each with double closets) and two full baths. Each condominium contains a separate HVAC system, which, like all appliances and lighting, is Energy Star rated. Each owner will have one dedicated on-site parking space."
The development was built at no cost to the Village of Briarcliff Manor in order to satisfy a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) settlement that required the county to build 750 "fair and affordable" units of housing across 31 communities, including Briarcliff Manor, by 2016.
According to the county, the units are being sold for approximately $223,000 each.
