Brantman, Haberman to Join Briarcliff School Board

The two candidates will fill the spots of outgoing President Guy Rotondo and Trustee Eric Bashford.

Dina Brantman and Michael Haberman will join the Briarcliff Manor school board, succeeding Trustee Eric Bashford and the board’s president, Guy Rotondo.

Haberman is president of a non-profit organization in Manhattan that leverages private-sector expertise and resources to improve student achievement.

Both have been outspoken activists in district affairs.

Brantman and Haberman were the lone candidates to file before Monday’s 5 p.m. deadline.

On Tuesday, May 15 voters will vote on , as well as the approximately $10 million bond that will be used for facilities improvements throughout the district.

Mr. Bashford and Mr. Rotondo leave big shoes to fill. The community owes them a big thank you for their outstanding service in provding stewardship resulting in improvement in the finances of the district, correction of bad financial practices criticized by the State Comptroller and the District's auditor, corralling the out of control tax levy imposed on Briarcliff residents, and improving the quality of education for Briarcliff students, to name just a few of many accomplishments. Thank you gentlemen.

Will we finally reverse the school spending cuts?

Agree that the outgoing members deserve credit for thousands of hours of hard work for village residents and the community as a whole. In all walks of life we have to do more with less. We should be realistic, budget cuts are everywhere, and if properly targeted results are positive. Thank you Guy and Eric for all your efforts and sacrifice in often trying conditions. We are well set for the immediate future with professional educators and administration. Best wishes.
