Farmington Schools Set to Hire Plymouth-Canton Administrator as Harrison Principal

School board members will consider hiring Lawrence Stroughter, Jr. to fill the post, which was vacated in late June.

Harrison High School will have a new principal Tuesday, if Farmington School Board members approve the appointment of a Plymouth-Canton administrator.

Lawrence Stroughter, Jr. would replace interim principal Dr. James Myers, who was brought in after the resignation of Aaron Johnson, who left in June to take the position of Secondary Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and Technology with the Grosse Pointe Public School District.

According to a resume published with the board's Dec. 11 meeting packet, Stroughter holds a Master of Education from Wayne State and is pursing doctoral studies at Eastern Michigan. He has been employed by Plymouth-Canton Community Schools since 2009, serving as assistant principal at Canton High School that year and Salem High School the following year. He taught in Detroit Schools from 1997-2009.

The School Board meets at 7:30 p.m. in the board room at the Schulman Administrative Center in Farmington.
