Photos: Finishing Touches on the Todd Playground

Briarcliff Manor's Todd Elementary School will soon have its new playground up and running.

Todd Elementary School's new playground will soon be ready for students.

The site's design and plan, approved by district voters in August, will be a space for the school's kindergarten through second graders to enjoy during recess.

The school also has a playground in place for third through fifth graders, located adjacent to the site's basketball courts and soccer field.

The new playground came in at an estimated cost of $160,000, according to district officials and features a rubber-like ground and multiple play structures in the school's signature blue and orange.

The playground was designed by a district committee comprised of parents and teachers.

During the first day of school Kindergarten Transition Session, Todd Principal Nadine McDermott said construction workers were busy, even in the rain, readying the site.

The playground's structures appeared to all be in place on Monday, though McDermott said putting down the rubberized play surface beneath would take about four days.

"We are looking at about the last week of September," she said of the anticipated opening. "But it will be worth the wait."
