Faced with the possibility of presenting voters with a decision to override the New York State tax cap, the Pleasantville Union Free School District Board of Education is imploring the community to weigh in on budget discussions.
In a community email Sunday, board members said they "encourage" public participation at a Tuesday, March 12 work session. The 7:30 p.m. meeting will involve members of the financial committee, formed this academic year following PAC committee recommendations.
"...the Board will hold a special work session with the financial committee to discuss the financial implications and options involved in formulating short and long term financial plans," the Board noted.
The preliminary 2013-14 district budget, which proposes the elimination of 14 classrooms positions, would carry an approximately 2.68 percent tax levy increase for residents.

The board will also have another budget work session following its March 5 regular meeting.
