Pleasantville UFSD Seeks Finance Committee Applicants

A district-wide finance committee will help aid the school board during the 2013-14 academic year budget process, the Pleasantville Board of Education announced on Tuesday.

Residents interested in joining the committee may submit applications through December 1.

The committee will reportedly "act as an advisory body" during the budget process.

In addition to residents, the committee will include board members, Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter and Assistant Superintendent for Business David Quattrocchi.

SCHOOL DISTRICT FINANCE COMMITTEE:

The Board of Education hereby authorizes the formation of a School District Finance Committee (“Committee”):

1. To develop an understanding of the budget through discussion with administration.
2. To review and provide insight to the Board on cost implications of state and federal mandates, benefits costs and projections.
3. To understand and advise the Board as to how budget information is presented to the community by identifying what the community wants and needs to know about the school budget and providing feedback on the budget to the Board.
4. To identify and advise assumptions to be used in a long-range plan.

The District Finance Committee will be composed of representatives from the Board of Education, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent for Business and community members with financial background.

The Committee will serve as an advisory body to the Board of Education; the Board of Education makes all final decisions.
