National Physical Therapy Month

Happy National Physical Therapy Month!

National Physical Therapy Month is celebrated every October.  National Physical Therapy Month has been designed to recognize, support, and promote the work of both physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.

According to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), physical therapists (PTs) are educated and licensed health care professionals.  Physical therapists can help reduce a patient's pain and improve/restore mobility. In many cases, going to a physical therapist can prevent surgery and often reduce the need for long-term use of prescription medications.

"Physical therapists can teach patients how to prevent or manage their condition so that they will achieve long-term health benefits. PTs examine each individual and develop a plan, using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. In addition, PTs work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness- and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles" (www.APTA.com).
