Pleasantville Bookstore to Host Local Authors Saturday

The Village Bookstore in Pleasantville is marking Small Business Saturday on November 30 by welcoming a number of local authors.

From The Village Bookstore:

On Saturday, Nov. 30 (Small Business Saturday), local authors will act as volunteer booksellers at The Village Bookstore of Pleasantville. Rob Fleder (Damn Yankees), Gary Golio (Spirit Seeker), Marilyn Johnson (This Book is Overdue), Mary Murphy (Scout, Atticus, and Boo), Susanna Reich (Minette’s Feast), Mark Siegel (Sailor Twain), and Joseph Wallace (Diamond Ruby) will be on hand to chat with customers, recommend favorite books, and even personalize copies of their own.

The Village Bookstore owner Roy Solomon says, “We’re thrilled to be part of an exciting program called Indies First, which is bringing hundreds of authors to independent bookstores across the country. It gives a special book store twist to Small Business Saturday.”

Indies First, launched by acclaimed author Sherman Alexie, gives authors a chance to give back some of the support that independent bookstores have traditionally given to authors. Sherman Alexie is a poet, short story writer, novelist, and performer. He has won the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction and the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature, among others.
