Allison Weinig — Competitive Snowboarder

Weining is a senior at PHS.

Name, Age: Allison Weinig, 18

School:

Accomplishment: A seasoned competitive snowboarder, high school senior Weinig placed first in the category of snowboarders ages 17 and up (out of five) at the Winter Empire State Games in Lake Placid, NY, at the end of February.

Key to Awesomeness: Weinig has been snowboarding since the age of 10, and began competing in 2008 through the United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA). Last year, Weinig was undefeated in the boardercross category in the region and placed eighth out of 29 in the USASA Nationals in Colorado, a national competition.

In addition, Weinig is a certified level one snowboard instructor through the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) and uses her skills to volunteer at Belleayre Mountin in the Catskills. Coming up, she plans to participate at the national level again in this year's USASA Nationals, to held at Copper Mountain in Colorado.
