Bears at States: Daily Sports Digest, June 8, 2012

Welcome to Patch's daily snapshot of sports in Pleasantville and Briarcliff Manor.

Baseball

Last year, Briarcliff made it to the state Class B finals.

This year the Bears will look to win one more game and take home the state crown this weekend.

Football 

The Fourth Annual Big Apple Shootout will be held at White Plains High School on June 9 at 1 p.m.

Boys Lax

Tryouts for the Hudson Valley team that will play in the inaugural Empire State Cup will be held at Somers High School June 11 and June 21 at 4 p.m. according to Mike Dougherty's post on the LoHud Boys Lacrosse Blog.

Any player from the region currently in grades 8 through 12 is eligible to participate. This is a showcase for All-Stars, and there is a $75 tryout fee.

All interested participants need to register by June 10 at empirestatecup.com.
