Bears Baseball Captures Two Wins Over Weekend
Briarcliff Bears beat cross-town rival Pleasantville Panthers 8-6 Sunday, to obtain their second victory of the weekend after a 4-3 defeat over Croton-Harmon Saturday.
Briarcliff Bears baseball had a successful weekend earning two wins to improve to 13-6 overall.
John Fussell’s three RBI’s, and Ryan Huegel’s two helped the hosts to their most recent victory, 8-6, over the cross-town rival Pleasantville Panthers Sunday at Briarcliff.
All was not lost for the other side though as Matt Cecchetelli hit a three-run double for the Panthers (9-10) in a rescheduled contest from May 16.

Despite the loss, the Panthers upped their run count from May 12’s 8-3 home defeat to the Bears.
Post-season play for both teams remains to be seen but will be determined following Tuesday’s seeding meeting.

In earlier over the weekend, Steve Hemberger ran in the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth Saturday’s 4-3 home victory over Croton-Harmon due in part to Paul Hernshaw suffering a pitch to the body. Colin Orr came through with two hits and an RBI for the home team.
