BHS Falls in Finals: Daily Sports Digest, June 11, 2012

State Tourney

Finals

Briarcliff fell to Oneonta 2-0 in the state Class B championship baseball game at MacArthur Park in Binghamton on June 9.

Paul Henshaw pitched well in defeat, scattering eight hits.

It's the second year in a row Briarcliff has finished the season as state Class B finalist. Congratulations to the team on another oustanding campaign!


Semifinals

The Bears were victorious in the state class B semifinals on June 9 as they defeated Albany Academy 4-3, also at MacArthur Park.

Winning pitcher Spencer Kulman, who registered two hits with the bat, allowed seven hits and struck out one for the win on the mound. Kulman finished the postseason at 4-0, hurling three complete games in the process.

Track & Field

was seventh overall (third among Division 2 male athletes) in the 3,200 event in the Federation meet at the first day of the New York State Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Cicero-North Syracuse High on June 8 according to LoHud.com.

On the girls side, Briarcliff's Sophie Feuer was 10th in the 400 and Madeline Zimmerman was fifth in the triple jump and ninth in the long jump in Division 2 competition.

As a team, the girls were ninth in the 1,600 relay.
