Briarcliff AYSO Practices with Pro Soccer Team

Young players learn from New York Red Bulls.

Friday wasn't just another day at the park for Briarcliff Manor's American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) program.

Practicing at 's , about 60 young athletes were able to learn from professional soccer players from the New York Red Bulls.

"This was a unique opportunity for the children who participated because many had never had the opportunity to engage with professional soccer players quite like this," said Briarcliff AYSO Board Member John Glaser in a statement.

The event was part of the "Student of the Game" partnership created by Tom Richer, regional commissioner for the local AYSO branch.

The day included training and drills with the professional team, with demonstrations and opportunities for scrimmaging.

"We are thankful for the Red Bulls Professional Soccer organization for offering this community outreach event," said Richer. "Despite the cold brisk day for the nearly sixty children, the event had a memorable and positive effect on them.  The Red Bulls are a world class organization with the right focus.”
