Sundberg Shut Down Golden Knights in Complete Game Win

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Brian Sundberg (Westbury, NY/W.T. Clarke) tossed a complete game three-hitter as the Setters defeated the Golden Knights of the College of Saint Rose 3-1 in Northeast-10 Southwest Division action. The Setters improve to 11-10 overall, 3-3 in the NE-10 and 2-0 in the Southwest. Saint Rose falls to 7-13, 1-5 in the NE-10 and 1-1 in the division.

Saint Rose scored in the opening inning for an early 1-0 lead but Sundberg did not surrender a run the rest of the way. The Setters got the offense going in the first as Chris Roemer (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) reached on an error and stole second base. James Pjura (Shelton, CT/Shelton) drove in Roemer with a single to tie the game at one.

The Setters took the lead in the second as Joe Lombardi (Briarcliff, NY/Briarcliff) doubled and eventually scored as Roemer reached base on an error. Pace added an insurance run in the eighth as Robert Horn (Stamford, CT/Westhill) singled and moved to second on a sac bunt. Patrick Chaputian (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) drove in Horn with a single for a 3-1 Setter lead.

Sundberg (3-2) was outstanding on the hill for the Setters as he allowed three hits in a complete game effort, while striking out six.


Drury Has Career Day as Setters Split Bentley; Post 20th Win of the Season

, N.Y.- Freshman Jeane Drury (Flanders, NJ/Morris Catholic) had a career-day for the Setters as she went 4-for-4 with three homeruns and five RBI’s as the Setters split a doubleheader against the Falcons of Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference action. Pace took the opener 7-3 but fell in the nightcap 8-3. The Setters are now 20-6 overall and 8-4 in the NE-10, while Bentley stands at 4-16 and 2-10 in conference play.

In the opener, Pace got on the board in the second inning as Natalie Gellos (Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy) doubled and scored on a two-run homerun by Drury. Bentley rallied with three runs in the third inning.

Drury tied the game in the fifth as she hit a solo homerun to lead off the inning. The Setters broke it open in the sixth as Pace capitalized on a Falcon error to push across four runs in the inning. Rachael McMahon (Corona, CA/ Esperanza) and Lana Buchbinder (San Francisco, CA/George Washington) both drove in a run each with RBI singles, while Sabrina Gonzalez (Oxnard, CA/Ventura College) drove in two runs with a base hit.


Softball Blasts Six Homeruns En-Route to Sweep over Stonehill

Lana Buchbinder (San Francisco, CA/George Washington) launched a pair of homeruns on the nightcap, including a grand slam, as the Setters swept a Northeast-10 Conference Doubleheader over Stonehill College. Pace took the opener 4-3 and won the nightcap 15-7 in six innings.
