This weekend, May 28-29 2011, Shattemuc Yacht Club will be hosting the 2011 NY Downstate Sunfish Regional Championship. Many of the top US sailors in the US Sunfish Class will be competing to win a spot at the 2012 World Championships.
Mark May, one of Shattemuc’s former Sailing Academy students will be competing for a spot on the US Team.
“I have been competing in the sunfish all over the world since I was 14” Mark said, “It will be fun to have these talented sailors come to the Hudson River and sail in my home waters”

The races will begin at about 11am on both Saturday and Sunday and will be scheduled back to back until approximately 3pm. The event can be viewed along the Ossining Waterfront from Engel Park to the Snowen Avenue bridge. Parking will be very limited, however Shattemuc guests may use Train Station or neighborhood parking.
