Pace Baseball Rallies in Extra Innings Past Stonehill

WINTER PARK, Fla.- The Setters completed their Florida road trip as they rallied past the Skyhawks of Stonehill College 8-6 in 10 innings. Pace improves to 8-5 on the season, while the Skyhawks fall to 12-6 overall.
The Skyhawks built a 3-1 lead over the first five innings as Stonehill got a run in the third, fourth and fifth innings with Bobby Horn (Stamford, CT/Westhill) driving in the lone Setter run in the fourth with a groundout.

Joe Solomeno (Holbrook, NY/Sachem East) pulled the Setters even at three with a two-run double in the sixth inning. Pace jumped out to a two-run lead in the eighth inning with a pair of key hits. Brandon Martineson (Prospect, KY/Warwick) drove in a run with a triple, while James Pjura (Shelton, CT/Shelton) gave the Setters a 5-3 lead with a sacrifice fly. Stonehill rallied with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to force extra innings.
In the tenth, Pace took control as they scored three runs in the inning. Ian Wukitsch(Morristown, NJ/Morristown) put the Setters in front with a run scoring single, while Chris Gili(Manorville, NY/Eastport-South Manor) gave Pace some insurance runs with a two-run double. The Skyhawks rallied with one run in the bottom of the inning but reliever Tim Deegan(Levittown, NY / Kellenberg Memorial) came on to record the final two outs to earn his first save of the season.

For Pace, Solomeno and Wukitsch both went 2-for-5 with Solomeno collecting two RBI's and one runs and Wukitsch scored twice and drove in one. Pjura went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI, while Martineson scored a pair of runs.
On the mound, Michael Tamburino (Baldwin, NY/Holy Trinity) got the start, going 3 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and struck out one. Ryan Mihalkovitz (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) tossed four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and struck out one. Mike Jeannetti (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) went 2/3 of an inning allowing one hit. Dylan Mouzakes (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow Hills) pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits, earning the win to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Setters return to the Northeast as they will travel to Queens College on Wednesday, March 20 for a 3 pm game.
