Pace Basketball Season Tickets on Sale Now!

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace University Men’s and Women’s Basketball season is about to get underway and season tickets are now available through the athletics marketing office. For the first time this year two season ticket options will be available for purchase that will provide a unique fan experience while supporting each team as they compete in the Northeast-10 Conference.

The Pace Men’s Basketball team is led by first year Head Coach Pat Kennedy. Kennedy returns to Westchester County after he began his coaching career with the Iona Gaels in 1978 as an assistant under legendary coach Jim Valvano. He was promoted to head coach at Iona in 1980 and he guided the Gaels to back-to-back trips to the NCAA Division I Tournament in 1984 and 1985. He posted four 20-win seasons in six years and earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Coach of the Year honors in 1982. He finished his career at Iona with 124 wins, a .674 winning percentage, and won three MAAC Championships. Kennedy went on to coach at Division I institutions that include Florida State University, DePaul University, University of Montana and Towson University. He has accumulated 487 wins during his 31-year career with eight NCAA Tournament appearances and was also the ACC Coach of the Year at Florida State in 1992-93.

Coach Kennedy has brought in six new recruits including transfers Jamaal James (Brooklyn, NY, Brooklyn College Academy) who came from Division I Southeastern Louisiana and Kevin Berardini (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest), formally a guard for the University of Illinois. They join a solid core of returning players including starters Jonathan Merceus (Union, NJ/Union) who led the Setters in points and rebounds in 2012-13 and Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John’s College) who joined the 1,000 point club for Pace last season.

The Pace Women’s Basketball team is led by Head Coach Carrie Seymour who is entering her 22nd season at the helm for the Setters. She has a career record of 399-224 (.640). The Setters have made it to the NCAA tournament five out of the past eight years to total ten trips during her tenure. Coach Seymour has been selected as the NIT/Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II Coach of the Year six times during her career with her last selection coming in 2009-10. The Setters have participated in ten NCAA Tournaments, highlighted by a trip to the Division II Elite Eight in 2000-01 and the Sweet Sixteen in 1993-94 and 2010-11. Pace has also won three Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II championships in 1993, 1996 and 1997. Coach Seymour has been recognized regionally and nationally for her efforts, winning numerous coaching awards. She earned the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award following the 1993-94 season and was a two-time WBCA District Coach of the Year (1993-94 and 1999-00).

Coach Seymour has brought in eight new players for 2013-14 including a pair of Division I transfers in Lovisa Hagberg (Lidingo, Sweden/Hersby Gymnasium) a forward from St. Peter’s College and Shanice Maynard (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) is a forward from Coppin State University. They will look to contribute to a Setter lineup that includes top returners in junior guard Margo Hackett (Pawling, NY/Pawling) along with sophomore forward Yuni Sher (Poughkeepsie, NY/Long Island Lutheran).

The Pace Men’s Basketball team opens up on the road against LIU Post on November 9 at 4:30 pm while the Pace Women’s Team tip’s off the same day at home against Queens College at 5:00 pm in the Goldstein Health and Fitness Center on the Pleasantville campus.

  • One (1) ticket for each Men’s and Women’s game for the 2013-14 Pace Basketball season
  • “Pick Your Seat” access to either a courtside padded seat. Seat will be reserved for each game. (Based on availability)

  • One (1) ticket for each Men’s and Women’s game for the 2013-14 Pace Basketball season
  • “Pick Your Seat” access to an upper row seat back. Seat will be reserved for each game. (Based on availability)
  • Hospitality provided by Pace Athletics sponsors for the four (4) home Saturday NE-10 Doubleheaders
