Pace Setters announce baseball schedule: Daily Sports Digest, Jan. 23, 2012

Pace Baseball Announces 2012 Schedule

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Pace University Baseball team announced their 2012 schedule this afternoon. The team begins their schedule with a pair of games against Bloomfield College on Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26 at noon both days.

After a two-game series against Mercy College on March 2 and 3, the Setters will head south to the Sunshine State as they will play at Rollins College from March 11-17. They will square off against northeast region opponents Bentley, Stonehill and CW Post, while also taking on host Rollins College on Wednesday March 14 at 6:00 pm.

The Setters come back to the northeast with a pair of games played at local professional baseball stadiums. Pace will head to Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT, home of the Atlantic League’s Bridgeport Bluefish, as the Setters will take on the University of Bridgeport on Tuesday, March 20 at 3 pm.

The Setters will then head to Pomona, NY on Thursday, March 22 to take on Nyack College in the new Rockland Boulder Stadium for a 3:30 pm game.

Pace will kick off their Northeast-10 Conference schedule with two doubleheaders at home, one Saturday March 24 against Stonehill College beginning at noon and Sunday March 25 at noon vs. Bentley University.

The Setters will follow up with two home non-conference games against Dominican on March 29 and Queens March 30 with a 3:30 pm first pitch for each game. Pace will then jump back into the conference schedule for a single home game against Adelphi University on April 3 at 3 pm.

On April 10, the Setters will play Molloy College in non-conference action at 3:30 pm and will subsequently hit the road for eight straight games. They return to Peter X. Finnerty Field on April 17 when they take on Adelphi at 3:30 pm to complete the home and home series against the Panthers. The following day Pace will play Bloomfield at home at 3:30 pm.

Heading down the stretch the Setters take on Assumption College on Saturday April 21 and Sunday April 22. On Saturday, Pace will play the Greyhounds in a doubleheader as “Pace Goes Pink” for the noon twin bill. “Pace Goes Pink” to raise money for the Dickstein Cancer Treatment Center for White Plains Hospital.

"Pace Goes Pink" t-shirts will be worn by the team and will be sold for $5 with all proceeds going to the cancer center. The Setters and the Greyhounds wrap up their three-game series with a single game on Sunday at 1 pm. The Setters will then play a 3:00 pm game on Wednesday April 25 against New Haven.

To finish the regular season schedule, Pace will host a three-game home series against Southern Connecticut on Saturday May 5 and Sunday May 6 as Pace will honor their seniors that weekend. Saturday will feature a doubleheader beginning at noon and Sunday will be a single game beginning at 1 pm.

Briarcliff sixth-graders winning big

Briarcliff is doing great in the boys sixth grade A division of the Tri-County Basketball League as it improved to 6-1 with a 52-42 triumph against Yorktown Jan. 15.
