Pace Women's Basketball Hosts Girls Youth Clinic

Participants ages eight to 14 attended the free clinic in Pleasantville Monday.

Pleasantville, NY- The Pace Women's Basketball program hosted a free girls basketball clinic for the local community this morning in the Goldstein Health and Fitness Center. Over 60 girls ranging in age from eight to fourteen participated in the clinic. Each participant was able to attend the clinic from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm then stay to watch the women's basketball team practice while eating pizza in the bleachers.

The women's basketball team along with Head Coach Carrie Seymour was thrilled with the response from the community. "Today was a great day, to have over 60 youth basketball players participate was awesome, our team really enjoyed the experience and we hope all of the girls are able to attend some of our home games in the next few weeks" stated Seymour.

Pace has a home game this Wednesday January 23 against Southern New Hampshire University. The women tip-off at 5:30 pm followed by the men's team at 7:30 pm. The Setters then go on two game road trip and return home for a game on Saturday February 2 against Stonehill College at 1:30 pm. Fans in attendance on February 2 will receive the 2013 white-out edition t-shirt at the door and sample free food from Pace Athletics sponsors. The radio station Z100 will be at the event as well with their street team handing out prizes and giveaways for fans. The women's halftime show will feature a performance by the dance team and drum line. In addition, one lucky fan will have the chance to shoot a half-court shot for $15,000. The men's halftime will recognize all athletics alumni in attendance including Sam Smith '70, author of The Jordan Rules followed by a performance by the cheerleading squad. Each game will be broadcasted on WFAS AM 1230, the official radio station of Pace University Athletics.
