In this week's Pleasantville Panther game of the week, it was the Lady Panthers battling the Croton-Harmon Tigers on the hardwood.
The Panthers, who played without senior captain and inside presence Zaria Cobbs, were forced to rely on their outside shooting. And it paid dividends in the form of three first quarter three pointers from sophomore Ann Marie DiCarlo.
DiCarlo's early barrage helped establish a 12-2 Panther advantage that they would never surrender. And it was DiCarlo's free throw, with 6.3 seconds left, that helped seal the Lady Panthers first league title since the 2002-03 season.
That was also the last time the Lady Panthers won the section championship. This year's Lady Panthers will be looking to do the same.
